The Atlanta Chapter of
AWRT-American Woman in Radio & Television
is pleased to announce the first annual
AWRT Mentor Program

AWRT-Atlanta will partner with Spelman College
and Georgia State University
for the 2008-2009 school year.

Have you ever asked yourself:

"Am I giving back to my community?"
"Wouldn’t it be nice to expose students
to the Media Industry before graduation?"
"Where are all the good job candidates these days?"

Here is your opportunity to give back to the business and to enhance a young student’s college experience. AWRT-Atlanta is looking for Mentors and Mentees right now! Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this charter year! We will be accepting applications from Juniors & Seniors in GSU’s Communication program and from the Spelman College Chapter of AWRT. Students will be interviewed for acceptance and placed with a member mentor.

Mentors must have membership with the Atlanta Chapter of AWRT, and must complete a mentor profile in order to be matched with a mentee.

Please e-mail your profile to Stacy Smith at stacysmith@univision.net to participate in the program.

Here are a few examples of activities we will suggest for the Mentors & Mentees:

  • Half-Day Shadow at Work, Bring on a Sales Call, Sit in on a Meeting, Come Along on a Production Shoot or Watch a Live News or Radio Broadcast.
  • Introduce your mentee to 2 or 3 additional professionals in your field who may assist in broadening their perspective of the industry.
  • Review mentees resume and make suggestions for improvements
  • Come Along on a Production Shoot
  • Professional Development - work on presentation skills, appearance, body language, interview skills etc… Participants in the program will be communications majors ready to enter the work force and seeking this advice!

Don't miss this amazing opportunity to positively impact a student's education, and to improve the skills of entry-level work force entering the industry!
